MIL-STD-1553 Transformers

Raycom offers a wide selection of MIL-STD-1553 interface transformers for commercial, military, and space applications. Generally, these transformers are used for highest-reliability applications, such as flight-control, combat, and space.

All QPL MIL-STD-1553 transformers are specified using DSCC MIL-PRF-21038/27. There are 31 different QPL parts listed on this low-power pulse transformer performance specification sheet. Shown below are two example product data bulletins that are QPL parts.

For information on other available winding and packaging configurations, please briefly describe your component needs and application using the attached form.

A sister ETI company, Hytronics, offers transformers for standard QPL and COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) applications. When testing for highest reliability and specific space applications, and use of NASA-certified solderers are required, come to Raycom.

and then into space.

Raycom Electronics, Inc. has just released a new 3.3 Volt, MIL-STD-1553 transformer that has been chosen recently for use in an on-board computer in the European Space Agency Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle. A subsidiary of Electro Technik Industries, Inc., Raycom is a long time manufacturer of military magnetics and transformers.

The new 3.3 Volt MIL-STD-1553 databus transformer was designed specifically to meet the performance and reliability needs of the space environment and the particular application, as well as the cost parameters of the customer. Raycom specializes in working directly with customers up-front on designs to ensure not just that the part will work, but that it will work in a specific customer’s application.

Raycom has produced several magnetic components including transformers and inductors for space applications. These products have been tested to and successfully met all requirements of MIL-STD-981 (the U.S. space standard for such components) before taking to the skies, and beyond. This component has been designed to comply with ECSS-Q-ST-60C and MIL-STD-981 Class S.

Companies that have chosen Raycom components include both domestic and overseas firms. Raycom is pleased to be recognized by and is eager to work with companies and programs such as the European Space Agency Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle which require Raycom’s performance and quality.

How To Specify MIL-STD-1553 Interface Transformers

Each QPL MIL-STD-1553 interface transformer has an arbitrary part number or "Military Designation Number" which identifies turns ratio and physical package.

These Military Designation Numbers and corresponding information are tabulated on pages 11, 12, and 13 of MIL-PRF-21038/27. The link is provided here so you can specify by the appropriate Designation Number.

Or, if you prefer, just fill in the questions on the inquiry form, and we'll contact you to facilitate the part specification process.
