Raycom Electronics, Inc. has just released a new 3.3 Volt, MIL-STD-1553 transformer that has been chosen recently for use in an on-board computer in the European Space Agency Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle. A subsidiary of Electro Technik Industries, Inc., Raycom is a long time manufacturer of military magnetics and transformers.

The new 3.3 Volt MIL-STD-1553 databus transformer was designed specifically to meet the performance and reliability needs of the space environment and the particular application, as well as the cost parameters of the customer. Raycom specializes in working directly with customers up-front on designs to ensure not just that the part will work, but that it will work in a specific customer’s application.

Raycom has produced several magnetic components including transformers and inductors for space applications. These products have been tested to and successfully met all requirements of MIL-STD-981 (the U.S. space standard for such components) before taking to the skies, and beyond. This component has been designed to comply with ECSS-Q-ST-60C and MIL-STD-981 Class S.
